Akshay Kumar and Anees Bazmee's film, rumouredly titled Ram Aur Shyam (Hindi), will hit the cinemas on December 4. It is being produced by Dil Raju and Shirish Reddy on Sri Venkateswara Creations. The success of this project at the box office will boost the Tollywood banner's Bollywood journey in the coming years.
The catch is that Ram Aur Shyam will face headwinds at the box office in the form of competition from two major Bollywood outings and two Hollywood movies. Ajay Devgn's Ranger, co-starring Sanjay Dutt, will come out on December 4. Then, on the eve of Christmas, Shah Rukh Khan's King will be out. A 20-day gap is not wide in Bollywood, where many movies expect to go for the killing for three weeks. On December 18, Dune: Part 3 and Avengers: Doomsday will arrive at the cinemas. These two English-language outings, too, are going to pose a threat to the revenue potential of Ram Aur Shyam.
This isn't the only instance where a Dil Raju title is going to clash head-on with some other big movie. His Salman Khan-Vamsi Paidipally project will be released in theatres on March 10 or 11 in 2027, which is just a week after Prabhas' Spirit.
