Lately, Ram Charan's fans have been mighty disappointed with the makers of Peddi. They expected buzzworthy promotional material to be released after the recent press meet where the release date was announced (June 4, for those who aren't aware). Vriddhi Cinemas and Mythri Movie Makers, however, have since been sluggish. Sukumar appreciated his disciple, Buchi Babu Sana, and went out of public sight.
Amidst the absence of hype (even overseas pre-sales have plateaued lately), two developments have emerged. Hombale Films has acquired the international distribution rights to Peddi, with Prathyangira Cinemas and other distribution houses doing the last-mile delivery. The makers of KGF and Kantara have chosen Peddi to debut internationally as distributors.
And, what is more, Peddi's promotions will be non-stop starting next Monday. A trailer will be released in Mumbai, on May 18, to woo the Hindi market (the trailer will be out in multiple languages). Jio Studios must be working in the background to ensure the maximum online reach for the trailer.
And then, at least 5-6 events will be held within two weeks. A concert-like event in Bhopal (AR Rahman should perform live, if everything goes well), two events in Hyderabad, an event each in Vizianagaram, Bengaluru, Chennai and Delhi will be executed.
Peddi will debut at the box office on a grand scale on the night of June 3 with paid premieres.
