Varanasi to Kalki 2 and 15 others: Tollywood braces up for intense negotiations

Producers have reportedly requested exemption from the percentage system for 17 upcoming films. The list includes Peddi, The Paradise, Venkatesh-Trivikram's AK47, Vishwambhara, NBK111, Fauzi, Spirit, Varanasi, Jai Hanuman, NTRNeel, Raaka, ChiruBobby2 (also referred to as Mega158), AA23, RC17, Kalki 2, NaniSujeeth, and the Venkatesh–Anil Ravipudi film.

Between these 17 films, we have more than 50% of the footfalls in the coming two years or so. The only big films left out are Vijay Deverakonda's Ranabaali and Rowdy Janardhana, the movies of heroes like Ravi Teja, Sai Dharam Tej (Sambarala Yeti Gattu), Nithiin, Siddu Jonnalagadda, and Vishwak Sen. The movies of smaller heroes barely attract crowds in most cases. Eventually, a few more movies are going to join the 17-movie list, like Nagarjuna's 100th movie, for example.

For now, Peddi is the only film that has been exempted by exhibitors from the percentage-based system. Negotiations might happen on a case-by-case basis for the rest of the movies.
