The Telugu exhibition sector, which has been going through a difficult summer with dismal footfalls and a shortage of major crowd-pullers, has finally found reason to cheer even before Ram Charan’s Peddi arrives. Suriya’s Veera Bhadrudu (Karuppu) has unexpectedly turned into a good box-office performer. Theatres in the Telugu States have got the much-needed momentum during a lean phase.
The vigilante socio-fantasy action drama is witnessing impressive growth on Day 2 (May 16). Trade estimates suggest that the film could gross close to Rs 25 crore before Peddi takes over the box office space. The film’s mass appeal, fantasy elements and Suriya’s screen presence have helped attract audiences across centres.
The encouraging run of Veera Bhadrudu has also renewed optimism ahead of another potentially major release. Mohanlal’s Drishyam 3 is slated to hit screens on May 21. The third installment carries anticipation among thriller lovers alike. A strong emotional connect and suspense-driven storytelling are among the franchise's strengths. Trade circles believe Drishyam 3 could further stabilize theatrical revenues. However, promotions hold the key for the movie.
