Dragon: Jr NTR took a huge risk

It was Jr NTR's desire to work with Prashanth Neel after watching the first edition of KGF in 2018 that eventually made Dragon possible. The NTR-Neel duo met for the first time five years ago. When the director pitched Luger (the protagonist), the actor said yes despite the character's negative traits. He plays an assassin in chief.

In his latest interview, Neel stated that Tarak was up for the gamble after listening to the final draft of the story. "I wrote the last scene first. The rest of the story was written over the next three years to justify that one scene. Luger is the darkest character I have ever written. I have cast the most expensive villain in the history of Indian cinema," Neel told Galatta Plus.

For the RRR actor to play an out-and-out villainous role in his most expensive film ever is nothing less than a gamble. This one will be his first theatrical release after the failure of War 2.

Mythri Movie Makers plans to release Dragon on 11 June 2027. Dragon is likely going to have a second part.
