Oke Okkadu, the political action-drama directed by Shankar and starring Arjun Sarja and Manisha Koirala, is the Telugu-dubbed version of the Tamil film Mudhalvan. The film was released in 1999. Its story follows a TV journalist frustrated with corruption and political incompetence. During a live interview, he publicly challenges the arrogant Chief Minister about the state’s failures. The CM mockingly offers him the chance to become CM for one day, expecting him to fail.

Kiraak RP (Ratakonda Prasad), the popular comedian known for his comedic performances on the Telugu television show Jabardasth, today claimed that Nara Chandrababu Naidu served as the inspiration behind the popular box office hit. "Many distributors and exhibitors knew this fact at that time. Oke Okkadu was a true pan-Indian movie. Shankar garu and the film's producer themselves mentioned the inspiration (in private)," Kiraak said in the presence of the AP CM himself.

Oke Okkadu was first offered to Rajinikanth.
