When the success rate is the lowest in the film industry, why even make movies and repent loudly? This is a question we all have. Most films are made by individuals with tonnes of passion and delusional beliefs. Producer Madhura Sreedhar Reddy today reacted to the barrage of complaints publicly lodged by filmmakers/producers/exhibitors these days.
“Risks, pressures, and financial losses are inherent to any business, and anyone entering an industry does so with open eyes. Cinema is no different," the owner of the Madhura Audio music label opined. He added, "If you genuinely find the current landscape unfavorable, you have the option to step away and exit the industry. However, constantly using the microphone to complain about 'problems' only serves to damage the reputation of the film fraternity."
Offering sane advice, Sreedhar Reddy asked producers who can't make viable projects to ceremoniously call it quits. "Don’t dump your personal issues, company problems, or financial struggles onto the film project itself," he added.
Calling cinema a "wonderful medium", Sreedhar Reddy implied that it can't be projected as a site of misery to the external world. He advised producers to make "good content" and stand a high chance of securing success.
Madhura Sreedhar Reddy's insight comes in the wake of most producers and exhibitors being at loggerheads in public. Sneha Geetham in 2010 was his first movie as a producer. Reddy went on to produce films such as Ladies & Gentlemen, Oka Manasu, Designer s/o Ladies Tailor, ABCD: American Born Confused Desi and Dorasaani. He directed It's My Love Story and Backbench Student. Last year, he produced Santhana Prapthirasthu.
