Ram Charan appears to have found a smart way to position Peddi for the Hindi market. Instead of presenting it as just another sports drama, the actor has linked the film to the larger idea of Viksit Bharat, a slogan strongly associated with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s political messaging.
Charan today revealed that Modi asked him about the story of Peddi during a recent meet. He told the PM that the film is about the empowerment of villages. He then recalled Modi sharing an anecdote from West Bengal. According to the RRR actor, Modi spoke about a small village where several youngsters wore football jerseys because one local man named Mohammed had once represented India in football. That single achievement inspired an entire generation. Today, more than 85 people from the area are involved in the sport.
By using this example, the Mega Power Star has carefully connected Peddi with Modi's messaging, which strongly resonates with Hindi-speaking audiences in the age of WhatsApp and Facebook. While this may or may not translate into collections, during promotions, the idea is to hog headlines.
The film will make its theatrical debut on the night of June 3 with a large number of premiere shows in the domestic market. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, Peddi co-stars Divyenndu Sharma in a major role. His constant presence at Hindi promotional events confirms that his screentime in Peddi is substantial.
