For years, rumors about the acting debut of Nandamuri Mokshagnya Teja have circulated in Telugu cinema. As the son of Nandamuri Balakrishna, he has drawn everyone's attention from the beginning.

Finally, director Vassishta Mallidi has been chosen to helm the debut. As is known, he earned praise for his debut hit film Bimbisara. However, his second project, Chiranjeevi's Vishwambhara, has not yet hit theatres. Its box office results remain untested. Despite this, Balakrishna has entrusted the career launch of his heir to the young director. Mythri Movie Makers will produce the big-budget project. The Daaku Maharaaj actor must be going by the judgement of producers Y Ravi Shankar and Naveen Yerneni, Telugu cinema's biggest producer duo at the moment. "The CUB has left the den. Now, enters the wild as a LION," the makers wrote on Sunday, making the project official.

Initially, industry insiders expected Balakrishna himself to direct his son. That was rumoured to be a sequel to Aditya 369. Later, rumors attached top directors like Puri Jagannadh, Boyapati Sreenu, and Anil Ravipudi to Mokshu's debut. None of these proposed collaborations materialized. The buzz reached a peak when director Prasanth Varma officially signed on to launch Mokshagnya. The project was set to be part of the director's cinematic universe. A first look poster was unveiled to the public. However, creative differences and scheduling conflicts led to the movie being shelved before production started.
