Romanchakam, Ramba Oorvasi Menaka surprise on the upside

Both Romanchakam and Ramba Oorvasi Menaka were released in theatres last week. Despite mixed to outright negative reviews, they both have exceeded all the initial expectations.

Romanchakam, starring Sumanth Prabhas and Ananthika Sanilkumar, is hugely inspired by Jathi Ratnalu, feeling like a derivative. Its buddy comedy, involving comedian Narendra Ravi, the lead man, and Venkatesh Kakumanu, has turned out to be its saving grace. The entertainer would have tanked at the box office had it not been for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's participation in promotional activities. For Vanga and his brother, Pranay, this unexpected positive gives a fillip to their young banner, Bhadrakali Pictures.

Ramba Oorvasi Menaka, starring Allari Naresh in the lead, is dated and filled with subpar situations. Barring a few genuinely comical portions involving VK Naresh and the fantasy angle (Vennela Kishore plays Indra), the film is a bummer. Produced by Razesh Danda and Prasad Nimmakayala, its Day 3 collections were higher than Day 1's. Raashi Singh, Vishnu Priya Bhimeneni, and Prisha Singh played the titular roles. "This success has proved that positive word of mouth always determines success," the hero added.
