Vijay Deverakonda, Sandeep Reddy Vanga praise Anand Deverakonda’s Epic

"I feel immensely proud of the scripts Anand Deverakonda selects, and Epic will stand out in his filmography. Vaishnavi Chaitanya is a brilliant actor who has accomplished so much for her family. #90s (the ETV Win web series) brought back incredible memories, and I believe Epic (directed by the same filmmaker, Aditya Hasan) will achieve that same level of success," shared Vijay Deverakonda, speaking at Tuesday's pre-release event of Epic. The film is scheduled to be released on a grand scale on September 11.

The Ranabaali actor raised a toast to director Aditya's treatment, saying that he captured everyone's attention with #90s, prompting audiences across both Telugu states to watch it in large numbers. "After watching the series, I knew I wanted to see his feature film debut. Just as I eagerly anticipated Tharun Bhascker's feature debut years ago, I felt the same for Aditya. Anand is fortunate to act in his first film, much like I was with Tharun's," the Kingdom star added.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who attended as another guest, shared that Anand's conversations have revolved entirely around cinema from the beginning. "I remember being struck by how someone in a tech job could share the exact same passionate drive for filmmaking as we did. Fast forward to another day, he debuted with Dorasaani and built an impressive filmography with titles like Middle Class Melodies and Baby. Whatever role Anand takes on, he effortlessly immerses himself into the character and makes it entirely his own," Vanga shared. "Vaishnavi has also charted a remarkable journey, progressing from short films to major feature roles. When I initially encountered the characters Suppi and Suddhapusa in the 90s web series, they made me laugh; later, when my children were watching it at home, I ended up joining them to view the entire show. Aditya crafted it brilliantly, displaying the nuance of a seasoned writer rather than a newcomer. Epic has delivered strong promotional material with its teaser and trailer. I also hold Hesham Abdul Wahab’s music in high regard. I extend my best wishes for success to the entire team," the Animal maker added.

Anand said, "Epic is a story for all of us. Between the ages of 23 and 26, we naturally ponder family, love, and responsibilities, and this film captures those exact emotions. Trivikram garu once said that one should tell a simple story strongly, creating a good film where two people simply sit and talk without relying on twists or bloodshed. Epic is precisely that kind of natural love story, and everyone will see themselves in it. There is no villain in this story. Aditya wrote it wonderfully, capturing every minor detail with care, and I believe Epic will match the success of #90s. Releasing on September 11 with premieres on September 10, it is a film you can enjoy with friends, partners, or family."

Music director Hesham Abdul Wahab said, “This is a very special film for me. Working on it gave me the same feeling as working on my first film. It showcases a new side of me as a music director, and this film will always remain special to me.

Producer S Naga Vamsi addressed social media feedback regarding the trailer, defending its realistic depiction of relationships. He explained that director Aditya portrayed the connection between a boy and a girl naturally, focusing on practical interpersonal dynamics rather than standard cinematic family conflicts. He highlighted that the film captures misunderstandings between parents and children, making it a complete family entertainer suitable for all audiences. Describing it as a commercial experiment, he noted that lead actors Anand and Vaishnavi spend nearly 1 hour and 40 minutes of the 2-hour-20-minute runtime conversing, which forms the core emotional hook. The story contrasts a soft-spoken rural Telangana boy with a confident girl, exploring how partners should understand one another. He expressed confidence in the movie's heart-touching moments.

Actor Shivaji said, “Epic is the story of all of us. It is the story of every generation. Emotion is permanent in human life, and it has nothing to do with age. Life itself is made up of memories, and cinema is all about emotions. When the two come together, it becomes Epic. Everyone who comes to the theatre will see their own story on the screen. This is a film for everyone. Every person will enjoy every moment of it. Each character in the film will stay with you and be remembered."

Director Aditya Hasan said, "I received immense appreciation during #90s and Premalu (he wrote the dialogues for the Telugu version), with hardly any negativity since joining the industry. So, when some trailer comments expressed disappointment, I was initially shocked. However, seeing audiences and reviewers say, 'Aditya wouldn’t make something like this; you will understand once you watch the film,' made me realize the deep trust people have in me, and I felt I had won. This film will live up to that trust. The characters in Epic reflect their influence and stem from the society I have observed. Anand did complete justice to the character of Aditya, and I thank Vaishnavi for playing Kadali, along with everyone involved in this film. Among all the characters, the role of Aditya, played by Anand, is the most challenging. Vaishnavi has also performed exceptionally well."
