Why reviews panned Ravi Teja's nephew Maadhav's debut film Maremma

The rural drama Maremma marks the acting debut of Maadhav Bhupathiraju. He is the nephew of Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja. However, critics have widely trashed the movie following its theatrical release.

Reviewers pointed to weak writing as the primary reason for the failure. Director Manchala Nagaraj failed to build a strong narrative around the central conflict. The plot focuses on a young man and a missing sacred bison. Critics noted that the second half becomes extremely tedious. The scenes searching for the animal drag endlessly without any thrill.

Maadhav's lead performance received sharp criticism. Critics felt he struggled with basic expressions and dialogue delivery. He appeared miscast in a Telangana backdrop. The romantic track with Deepa Balu lacked chemistry and screen impact. Forced humor and weak villain tracks further hurt the narrative pace.

Maadhav joins the league of young artists from film families struggling to make the right moves. In recent times, Jayakrishna Ghattamaneni (Mahesh Babu's nephew) scored a duck. These debutantes happen to be working with filmmakers with no originality (most of the time). Some of them must be taking comfort from the fact that even Akhil Akkineni's debut was a disaster.
