The Paradise: 'No Trailer' bombshell ignites doubts about content

After Nani confirmed on Friday that The Paradise won't have a trailer, many see it as a strategy to cover up the alleged lack of quality content. "Nani knows that a trailer will expose his film," is the line many have taken on social media.

As per the actor, the makers are hard-pressed for time. Making a trailer will completely eat up four complete days. With director Srikanth Odela and composer Anirudh Ravichander rushing to complete post-production, they can't afford to waste those many days at this juncture.

Nani's explanation, however, hasn't been taken at face value. "Many big-ticket films have been rushed at the last minute in the past. That didn't prevent their trailers from being released," a movie buff argued.

Something doesn't sound alright. The team has been too slow with promotional assets. Months passed without a single update after the release of Aaya Sher. After Yesha Nagula, there hasn't been any major promotional asset. The teasers for Raghav Juyal and Dr Mohan Babu's characters were meh.

Also, international release plans have come a cropper. The Paradise was supposed to be released in Spanish, too. Its decent release in Hindi is now in doubt.

The Paradise could still surprise as a mother-son story, a raw and rustic actioner, and a musical hit. While Nani hasn't promised superlative action blocks, he sounds certain about the film's emotional core clicking with the audience. The film will head to theatres on September 24.
