418 is billed as one of the "scariest" horror films ever but the trailer feels gimmicky. To be released in theatres on September 18, it is produced by Mythri Movie Makers.
A rumour has gone out that 418 scared even CBFC members. As per a version countering this narrative, there is no truth to the gossip. The CBFC members merely found the depiction of certain killings and female infanticide "insensitive". They were not spooked.
On the face of it, 418 will make for a hard watch. If director Kirtan Nadagouda is counting on sound effects and jerky editing to do the job, he may realize that the audience are well past that phase.
The film is presented by Prashanth Neel, the director behind KGF, Salaar, and Jr NTR’s upcoming Dragon. Recently, another superstar filmmaker, Sandeep Reddy Vanga, presented a film. That was Romanchakam, a buddy comedy that was widely seen as derivative of Jathi Ratnalu. The concern is that even 418 feels like a derivative of umpteen horror flicks.
