The first song from Ranbir Kapoor-Sai Pallavi’s Ramayana, titled ‘Jai Jai Ram’, dropped on Ganesh Chaturthi. It features Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal on vocals for the Hindi version. AR Rahman's tuning, the picturization, and the aesthetics have led to both praise and pointed criticism.
Many listeners called the track peaceful and soulful. Some said the voices of Arijit and Shreya felt healing. Visuals of Ranbir Kapoor as Ram and Sai Pallavi as Sita drew compliments for their calm chemistry. A few noted improved VFX compared to earlier trailers. Comments like “this is what we wanted” appeared after previous trailer backlash.
Not all feedback stayed positive. One detailed review questioned the song’s originality. It pointed out that the melody draws from a 51-year-old traditional bhajan. The critic said the track slips when familiar old tunes take over. For a high-budget film, the lack of a distinct new identity disappointed some. The review noted goosebumps from the devotion but felt the film’s own voice stayed muted.
On X, a few users labelled the song average. One preferred only Shreya Ghoshal’s sections and advised skipping Arijit’s parts for better peace. Another compared it unfavourably to older versions of similar chants. Some posts mentioned “unnecessary hate” and speculated about forced negativity. Many pointed out that the songs from Prabhas' Adipurush were rousing and contributed to the spectacular all-India opening-day collections in 2023.
