Samantha Ruth Prabhu has shared a detailed reflection following her recent baby shower at the Isha Foundation in Coimbatore. She expressed a long-standing reverence for traditional Indian customs, noting that while she may not grasp every detail of ancient rituals, she feels a profound underlying power. The Maa Inti Bangaram actress highlighted the impact of mantra sounds, group chanting, and timeless heritage.
A Srividya Upaasaka priest guided the ceremony and explained its background. Samantha observed that every step of the ritual had a clear purpose and meaning. The ceremony featured Kalaa Aavarana, also known as Sri Kalpam. This specialized Srividya practice honors ninety-four qualities of Devi across seven maternal chakras. Sacred water and chanting serve to purify these energy centers.
"What moved me most was the way the mother is seen through this ritual," the Rangasthalam actress shared. "She (the pregnant woman) is honoured as Devi herself, as the sacred creator through whom another life is taking form."
The Yashoda actress underlined that the ritual brings blessings for the unborn child. It also marks a personal transformation for the mother. During the ceremony, the mother-to-be sits at the center of the Sri Chakra Yantram. The sacred symbol consists of nine enclosures representing stages of spiritual growth. At the core lies the bindu, which represents the source of creation and Lalita Tripurasundari.
The priest recited the sacred Devi Khadgamaala during the event. This practice chants the names of divine energies tied to each enclosure. The recitation proceeds from the outer layers toward the center. Samantha noted that this sequence guides the mind inward. The process invokes spiritual protection and blessings for both mother and child.
