Writer-director Vishal Chaturvedi and Mahaveer Jain Films have announced their next project titled Rambola, which will chronicle the life, devotion, and literary legacy of Mahakavi Goswami Tulsidas, one of the most revered poets in the northern part of India. Rambola Dubey is his original name.
This announcement follows the beyond-belief box office success of Hanuman Ansh, which drew large audiences to theaters, generated strong ticket sales, and established itself as a major blockbuster. Its commercial performance provided a firm backing for the creative team behind it. Made on a budget of Rs 2 Cr, it has grossed more than Rs 250 Cr.
Making successful biographical films about spiritual figures and saints is rarely easy. Studios often struggle to translate saintly lives into engaging cinema without losing dramatic momentum or audience interest. Directors must balance historical reverence with narrative pacing to keep mainstream viewers engaged.
Rambola aims to capture Tulsidas's journey from his early days to his lasting influence on devotional literature. The saint is best known as the author of the Hanuman Chalisa and of Ramcharitmanas.
Meanwhile, Trivikram Srinivas' Fortune Four Cinemas is making plans to release the Telugu-dubbed version of Hanuman Ansh on September 18.
