How is Sidharth-Tamannaah's The Vvaan? Let's learn

The Vvaan (Hindi) is the title of a supernatural mystery starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead. Before its release, many social media influencers tried to create the narrative that it would be Bollywood's answer to Kantara, Karthikeya 2 and HanuMan. What is the movie like?

Critics have mostly rejected the movie. They widely point out that the script tries to handle too many elements at once. Land disputes, environmental themes, family drama, forced comedy, and supernatural folklore make it a bloated affair. Reviewers at outlets like Hindustan Times, NDTV, and Indian Express noted that forced comedic relief (particularly involving supporting characters) and misplaced song sequences detract from the eerie tension built in the first half.

While ambitious, the visual effects during action-heavy and supernatural sequences (like those featuring mystical creatures) are inconsistent, with some scenes lacking visual polish. The final act devolves into a conventional CGI-heavy good-versus-evil battle rather than leaning into its psychological horror potential.

Many reviewers, however, appreciated the film's attempt to draw from regional Indian folklore and mythology. The forest setting, cinematography, and atmospheric score create a sense of mystery, they added.
