Ranabaali is confirmed to hit the cinemas on October 16. It is going to face immense competition from Superstar Rajinikanth's Jailer 2 and Venkatesh-Trivikram's Aadarsha Kutumbam (the latter will be coming out a week earlier).
Director Rahul Sankrityan is counting big on a 16-minute-long episode that plays out in the pre-climax phase. Vijay Deverakonda's revolutionary character, Ranabaali, is fictional. "The backdrop of the Madras Famine killing ten million people has been taken out of history. The protagonist is fiction, though," he added.
The Shyam Singha Roy maker has named the film after what Lord Murugan is known as per local folklore somewhere in Tamil Nadu. Ranabaali is a regional epithet given to His warrior form at a renowned shrine in the state.
Ranabaali, co-starring Rashmika Mandanna, has to pull ahead in terms of online buzz. Arnold Vosloo will be seen speaking many lines in authentic British English, most of which have been overlaid with Telugu. "It won't be distracting," the director assured. The Ajay-Atul duo has composed the music. "Cultural authenticity, historical events, and the depth of the protagonist will be three of the standout elements in Ranabaali," the director added.
