Pushpa is a very raw film: Rashmika Mandanna

Rashmika's first outing with Allu Arjun, 'Pushpa', will be released in theatres on December 17. In this interview, catch her talk about the most-awaited movie. (The film, which is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, also features Sunil, Fahadh Faasil, Anasuya Bharadwaj, Dhanunjaya, Rao Ramesh and others)

My character's name is Srivalli. She is a playful woman. While others are in awe of Pushpa Raj, she is not intimidated by his stature. For 'Dear Comrade', I didn't sport make-up for many scenes. In the case of 'Pushpa', a lot of hard work went into the de-glam look. As Bunny sir said at yesterday's event, it was akin to doing four films for the team.

I and Bunny sir have shared nice chemistry, which I hope will be lapped up by the audience. He is someone whose work ethic is great. He would jovially call me 'Crushmika' and I would be surprised.

Bunny sir supported me throughout the making of the film. When I had some doubts, he instilled confidence by saying that I am an intelligent choice. It removed my self-doubts. I had to get a hang of the Chittoor slang at a time when I was still perfecting Telugu. So, the character was definitely challenging.

For the pre-release event of 'Geetha Govindam', Bunny sir was the chief guest. Back then, I wondered if I would ever get to act opposite him.

In terms of the rawness and technical aspects, 'Pushpa' is a unique film. Such a film hasn't been made in the past. And it won't be ever made in the future. Sukumar sir has given the best.

Luck favours the hardworking. If everyone works hard, a film comes out well and it will become a hit. For the amount of make-up we had to put, the amount of journey we had to go through, it was a stressful experience for everyone.

I enjoyed doing a song like 'Saami Saami' with Bunny sir. As for Samantha garu, she is a superstar herself and I am happy that she has done her first special song.

I was on the set of my Hindi film 'Goodbye' when the teaser for 'Pushpa' was out. Everyone on set got eager about what I was watching. People in Mumbai have been enthusiastic about 'Pushpa'. Bunny sir is hugely awaited there.

My first two Hindi films are 'Goodbye' and 'Mission Majnu'. The latter completed its production works. The former has some shoot pending. I have got to work with Amitabh Bachchan sir for 'Goodbye'.
