Aamir Khan's words show OTT is scaring Bollywood

The pervasive OTT culture is scaring the daylights out of Tollywood these days. Films like 'Ante Sundaraniki' and 'Virata Parvam' didn't stand a chance in theatres. The former had good content and yet didn't get robust openings.

It seems Bollywood is even more worried about OTT thriving at the expense of cinema. Aamir Khan, in his most recent interview, indirectly blamed producers themselves for the state of affairs. He said that as long as the audience believe that a film will appear on OTT within two or three weeks of its theatrical release, they are not going to take the effort to watch it in theatres.

The 'Dangal' actor is in favour of a minimum of a 6-month gap between theatrical and OTT releases. This is more than the 8-week gap favoured by biggies in Tollywood.

Aamir awaits the release of 'Laal Singh Chaddha' on August 11 in Hindi, Telugu and a few other languages.
