'SIR' is one of the best films in recent times: Bharathiraja

Bharathiraja is one of the most celebrated Indian filmmakers. The Tamil filmmaker has famously won six National Film Awards, four Filmfare Awards South, two Tamil Nadu State Film Awards and a Nandi Award.

In Dhanush's 'SIR', he played a cameo. After watching the movie in a theatre, the 'Seethakoka Chiluka' maker today said that the Venky Atluri directorial is a responsible movie. "It's a special film that emphasizes the importance of education. 'SIR' is a relevant film that privileges message over entertainment," the veteran added.

He especially praised Dhanush for making a responsible choice. He also praised actress Samyuktha (seen as a teacher in the movie) and Samuthirakani (seen as an educational entrepreneur).

GV Prakash Kumar's 'Banjara' and 'Maastaru Maastaru' have received praise from the audience. Bharathiraja opined that his music for 'SIR' si great. "He will bag a National Award this year," he added.

The film, produced by Sithara Entertainments, grossed nearly Rs 15 Cr in the first weekend in Telugu. Dhanush's Telugu-language debut is heading towards becoming blockbuster.
