'Merise Merise', starring Dinesh Tej as the hero, has Shweta Avasthi as the heroine. The rom-com arrived at the cinemas on August 6. In this interview, the actress talks about the audience's response to the film, her future projects, and more.

I have played a budding fashion designer in the movie. It was great working with Dinesh Tej and director Pawan Kumar K. I am happy that the audience's reception is encouraging. The comedy scenes and the emotional segments have clicked with them. It is an exciting phase really.

I hail from Pune. I am a research student. I started out modelling even as a college-goer. I used to occasionally visit Hyderabad to do commercials. 'Malli Malli Choosa' in 2018 was my first Telugu film. The makers of that film had seen my profile when I was here to shoot for an Ad. 'Merise Merise' is my second movie. The director of the movie approached me even when I was doing my first film. I was thoroughly impressed with the script.

Dinesh Tej has acted in 'Hushaaru' and 'Play Back' previously. He was a very supportive co-star. Since I am not a Telugu, he helped me out with the dialogue delivery. After shooting for a scene, we would discuss how to shoot the next scene. As an actor, I got to learn a lot by doing 'Merise Merise'.

As for the director, he is such a talented guy. He is a debutant who came with a lot of clarity. He extracted the output he wanted from us actors.

As for my character in the movie, Vennela moves from Rajahmundry to Hyderabad after her engagement. She is a woman with an independent mindset. She wants to make it big in the field of her choice. I have tried to emote through my expressions rather than dialogues in the movie. I related to the character at some level.

Compared to the audience in North India, the South Indian audience love cinema more. We see how much they line up to buy a ticket for Rajinikanth's movies. Cinema is an emotion here, it's a celebration.

I admire Keerthy Suresh's performance in 'Mahanati'. I really want to play such a character if an opportunity comes my way.

I am acting in a pan-India movie currently. The shoot of the movie was completed recently in 'Ladakh'. I am also excited about bagging the right scripts in the future.
