Interview of Nivetha Pethuraj about 'Paagal'

'Paagal' will be released in theatres on August 14. In this interview, actress Nivetha Pethuraj talks about the rom-com, working with Vishwak Sen, her future projects and more.

Director Naressh Kuppili narrated the story of 'Paagal' two years ago in Chennai. It made for an emotional experience. The script is also close to Dil Raju garu. When someone like him was very confident, I felt I should take it up. I am very happy that I have done this movie.

When the director narrated the story in five sittings, I was sometimes moved to tears. All the actors did a great job. I am not a bubbly girl in the film. The equations between me and Vishwak Sen in the movie are like what you saw in 'Sakhi' (Mani Ratnam directorial).

Theera is the name of my character in 'Paagal'. The director's narration blew me away but I was not sure how his execution would be. To my surprise, he has done a really great job.

I don't think about the offers I might land because of a film. I am just happy that a good movie like 'Paagal' has happened for me. Vishwak Sen is a talented actor and is full of energy. He is more mature than me. For someone who is just 25, he is so much talent. I think he will be in the top league someday.

I always wanted to do a film under Dil Raju sir's banner. I was waiting for something good to happen. He told me that 'Paagal' will be the best in my career.

I think everyone who has been in love will be able to relate to 'Paagal'. The script has those sensibilities. As for the music, Radhan has composed superb songs. I have known his work since 'Arjun Reddy'. There are a total of 6-7 songs, one of which is sung by Sid Sriram (it is yet to be released).

Energy-wise, Vishwak and Ram Pothineni are comparable. The former takes care of a lot of departments, while the latter focuses on his acting.

I am delighted that 'Paagal' is releasing in theatres and not on OTT. Our film is meant for theatres. When I watch movies on OTT, I take a lot of breaks. We are lucky that 'Paagal' is the only major release coming out this week.

I have signed three Tamil movies in recent months. I have an announced movie in Telugu and it will go on the floors in December. One of the Tamil movies will go on the floors later this month if there is no lockdown.
