Director Sashi Kiran Tikka about Major's success

Director Sashi Kiran Tikka's 'Major' has been a big hit. In this interview, the 'Goodachari' maker shares his earnest views.

The response has been highly satisfactory. I am proud of the honour this has brought for us. Our film has been going great in Telugu. In Hindi, too, the collections are respectable. Compared to 'Vikram' and 'Samrat Prithviraj', ours is a small film. Yet, 'Major' has given them competition.

We had promised Major Sandeep Unnikrishnan's parents that we will make a very good film. I am happy that we have kept our promise. It's gladdening to receive appreciation and phone calls from the likes of Allu Arjun and Rana Daggubati. These are great memories. Sandeep's mother got emotional after watching the preview. Our attempt is very honest.

'Major' was supposed to be released in theatres in 2020. We completed around 40% of the shoot in 3 months. Had we continued at the same pace, 'Major' would have been completed quite fast. The lockdown was imposed and it took time for us to find the dates of Prakash Raj and Revathi again.

Adivi Sesh has been a very good friend. More than fame, I value satisfaction. With 'Goodachari' and 'Major', I have got it.

I am not going to direct 'Goodachari 2'. I will be there as a creative partner for that movie. 'Goodachari' was my and Sesh's brainchild.

I will be even more careful from now. I have to maintain the respect that 'Major' has fetched me. In today's times, new directors have a congenial atmosphere in the industry. Offers are coming our way from OTT platforms and producers who want to give something new to the audience. The producers have got more avenues to make money.

I want to make a film set in the British era. I have got a few more ideas in my head. They are small-scale ones in comparison. I don't want to be in a hurry.
