'18 Pages' is about pure love in restless times: Anupama Parameswaran

'18 Pages' has Nikhil Siddhartha and Anupama Parameswaran in lead roles. In this interview, the 'Premam' and 'Kartikeya 2' actress talks about what is in store in the film, why it is unique, and more. The 'Rowdy Boys' actress says that Gopi Sundar's songs are the soul of the film. "The lyrics explain the film's story," she adds.

'Kartikeya 2' became a bigger hit than we expected it to be. The media played an instrumental role in deepening its popularity, especially in Hindi. '18 Pages' was started before 'Kartikeya 2'. Both films were shot simultaneously, on and off.

It's amazing and exciting ahead of the release of '18 Pages'. I am also nervous. '18 Pages' is a love story. Don't expect a big-scale adventure cinema. It's a wonderful 'love is crazy' film.

I dubbed for '18 Pages' a couple of days ago. It's not my voice that you listen to in the trailer. It's someone else's voice. I watched the film. Nandini is one of my most favourite characters in my career. She is disconnected from the digital world. She is pure and good-natured. A lot of what she says will make the audience think. Things we don't cogitate over are raised by her. The character hit me hard.

'18 Pages' needed me to give the maximum number of takes. Director Palnati Surya Pratap was so detailed. The nose ring and other details of her look came from me. The director told me the look had to be atypical. The earring and the nose ring are from my childhood. If there are girls like Nandini around us, the aura around us will be different.

The film says that love has to be unconditional and unknowing. You realize that you are in love after so many days of being in love. Love stories will never run out of fashion. '18 Pages' has been made at a time when we are leading restless lives. We have to pause and observe our emotional beats. A diary written by Nandini sparks off the story of '18 Pages'.

When people praise my acting, I realize why I live, why I work hard and why I am an actor.

On missing 'Rangasthalam': Probably, it was not destined to happen to me. Sometimes, projects we don't want, happen to come to us. At other times, vice-versa happens.

On 'Tillu Square': I don't want to talk about it now. I want to talk only about '18 Pages'. (Recently, the actress walked out of the Siddhu Jonnalagadda project).

I have been working non-stop since the post-lockdown phase. '18 Pages' took many days from my calendar. Films like 'Butterfly' (OTT release on December 29), too, took a lot of time. The films that I am doing currently need a lot of time. 'Mareechika' and 'Siren' (Tamil) are among my upcoming movies. I am doing Ravi Teja's 'Eagle', directed by Kartik Gattamaneni.
