Faria Abdullah talks about Gurram Paapi Reddy

Meet Soudhamini: a nurse with her sights set on medical school in Gurram Paapi Reddy, wherein the entry of Naresh Agastya's male protagonist alters the course of her life. In this interview, actress Faria Abdullah talks about her upcoming dark comedy thriller, which hits the cinemas on December 19.

The story centers on a hilarious clash between the intelligent and the unintelligent. You will have to watch the film to see which side I fall on! One of the highlights is appearing before Brahmanandam garu, who plays a judge. The characters played by me and Naresh Agastya show up in his courtroom in several different avatars, and those sequences are pure entertainment.

My character sets out with the aim of saving lives. Her dream gets traded for a life on the run. She is forced into a high-stakes robbery with Paapi Reddy’s gang. After this, her world is never going to be the same. This character, who dons multiple get-ups (and it was not easy to don make-up in hot summer), is so unlike Jathi Ratnalu's Chitti.

Since I have aspirations to direct in the future, I treated my time on set as a creative workshop. Whenever there was a break, I was busy developing new concepts, scripts, and characters.

While I have mostly received entertaining roles after Jathi Ratnalu, I am not averse to essaying intense roles. In an upcoming movie, titled Bhagavanthudu, I will be seen in a serious role. I play a villager in it. Preparations are underway for Mathu Vadalara 3. Discussions are also happening for a few other interesting projects. I am doing a Tamil film with Sandeep Kishan, which will be released next year. I am also playing an important role in a movie titled Gayapadda Simham, which has a very strong script. I am also planning to do private albums.

My goal is to build a diverse filmography that spans all genres. I have a strong interest in the 'darker' side of cinema, including action-packed roles and psychological thrillers featuring unconventional characters like serial killers.

I am manifesting a movie with Prabhas garu. He is one of the sweetest superstars I have met.

I was supposed to begin my career with a serious film in which I was cast as a trans woman. That project got shelved. Had it released first, I would have been seen as a serious actor. Since Jathi Ratnalu came out first, the whole image got different. I always aimed for a banger of a debut.
