Save The Young Heart’ campaign is an initiative which strives to prevent heart ailments in the younger generation of this era and is being run since the last 3 years in Hyderabad by cardiac surgeon Dr. Anand Agarwal.
Dr. Agarwal is a senior cardiothoracic surgeon at Malla Reddy Narayana multispecialty hospital, Hyderabad, and along with having 2 decades of experience in cardiac surgery having spent 9 years in the UK also has various specialization degrees in this field
The aim of this campaign is to increase awareness about the incidences of coronary artery disease in the youth. Dr. Agarwal is seeing in his practice that he has to operate on a lot of patients in the age group of 30-40 years, and these are the only lucky ones who can reach the operating table in time; a lot of people cannot even live long enough to see the lights of the ambulance.
The reason for this exponential increase in heart disease is because of the earlier onset of diabetes, hypertensions and disordered life style. This 5k run is an attempt to create awareness about walking and running as a means to keep fit and avoid the heart diseases. Dr. Anand Agarwal also gives a lot of importance to lifestyle modifications as a mean to oppose heart diseases.
