Nikhil and Archana at Red FM Rakshasi
Post Nirbhaya incident there is too much call for action! There is an increased awareness across the country about women safety. Too much is being said and yes, very too little that is being done! While everyone is pondering upon the solution – our very Hyderabadi girl showed it! A 22 year-old used a pepper spray and averted a kidnap bid.
This March 8 – on International Women’s Day, Red FM instead of just talking about it, does its part for women’s safety. Our in-house ‘Raakshashis’ - RJs Prateeka, Kajal and Sandhya would lead this initiative by distributing pepper spray to all our female listeners across the city. Starting today our female RJs will visit colleges, offices, colonies and malls to distribute the same to our female listeners.
Speaking at the press conference, hero Nikhil said that he knew about pepper spray five years ago and bought them to gift them to his mother and sister. He also said that all the men who care about the women in their lives should gift them pepper sprays. He lauded RedFM for the initiative.
Actress Archana said today’s women have to go out and work late hours and learning defense techniques is not an overnight task. So for all such women, pepper spray is a wonderful tool.
Superhit’s 93.5 RedFM’s Regional Programming head said that, “Today’s women don’t need discount on clothes for women’s day or flowers or special songs; what they need is safety. So, we launched this initiative which would empower our female listeners”.
Today, the activity was started by actor Nikhil and actress Archana at RedFM office by distributing the sprays to a few selected listeners. RJ Prateeka, RJ Kajal, RJ Sandhya, RJ Raj and RJ Chaitu participated in the event. The distribution of pepper spray will continue in the city for the next few days.
