'Salaar': No grand event, no country-wide touring!

The buzz in the industry is that the promotional campaign of 'Salaar' is going to be largely muted. In the language of fans, it is going to be dull, frustratingly so.

Hombale Films, Prabhas and director Prashanth Neel have jointly decided not to hold any grandiose event where a dozen guests are supposed to describe 'Salaar' as the biggest film of the year. That's not going to happen.

This is in sharp contrast to 'Adipurush', which had a grand pre-release event in Tirupathi. The most recent pan-Indian release, 'Animal', had a grand event in Hyderabad (with SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu in attendance).

Rajinikanth's 'Jailer' and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Pathaan' and 'Jawaan' were not promoted extensively. Yet, they became blockbusters. After the Tirupathi event of 'Adipurush', Prabhas flew out of the country. He didn't return for 50 days. He didn't give any interviews ahead of the release of the movie. Prabhas following the same for 'Salaar' is not surprising. He doesn't want to face questions regarding 'Radhe Shyam' and 'Adipurush', and his health.

'Salaar', co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruthi Haasan, will hit the cinemas on December 22.
