The Girlfriend is expected to be a slice-of-life love story where the female protagonist, played by Rashmika Mandanna, doesn't simply fall for the male lead just because he stubbornly woos her. The Pushpa 2 actress has revealed that her character is fickle and confused, and the song Em Jarugothondi brings out her state of mind.
"Don’t we all feel this when love happens. Like you just can’t stop wondering what is happening. Is this right? Is this person right for me? What is happening? Why am I feeling the way I am? Do I have the right to feel this way? Should I not get into all of this and just study? Is he going to not like it if I say this to him? Should I - should I not say this? What should I do? Aren’t these the common questions lingering in our minds when the love is new?" Rashmika writes.
Directed by Rahul Ravindran, The Girlfriend stars Dheekshith Shetty as the male lead. Its music is by Hesham Abdul Wahab.
