Champion Trailer: Roshan Meka gambles for action-hero image

Roshan Meka, the son of actor Srikanth, has spent more than three years waiting for his second feature film outing as a leading man. And he did it for a reason - to be able to acquire an action-hero image with Champion, the Christmas 2025 theatrical release.

The film's trailer is not insipid but it is not novel either. The oppressor-oppressed template here leads to battles involving modern weaponry. It's early days of Indian Independence when the fanatical Nizam regime attempted to terrorize Hindus with the help of the Razakar army. The visuals don't hint at an out-of-the-ordinary staging or action choreography.

If Roshan towers above the script and makes a mark for himself as a young action hero, he will have achieved something of repute. If the audience doesn't buy him as a tough, action-oriented lead, it could stall his momentum.

Champion, co-starring Anaswara Rajan, has action choreography done by Peter Hein. Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinema have reportedly spent Rs 50 Cr on the movie.
