The other day, in an interview, Asian Cinemas' Suniel Narang stated that his under-construction Hakimpet screen will be a 70-ft IMAX screen. He has since been widely quoted by the media and movie lovers, who are enthused that an iconic screen would be Hyderabad's pride in the near future.
The twist in the tale is that Suniel Narang's claim has been contested by the IMAX Corporation. "The recent reports that IMAX is partnering with Asian Cinemas to bring an IMAX location to Hyderabad are entirely false," stated Preetham Daniel of IMAX Corporation. He added, "While IMAX is in conversation with multiple exhibitors about bringing IMAX to Hyderabad, no agreement is currently in place. IMAX is eager to expand into Hyderabad and will continue to proactively seek opportunities to do so."
At the time of writing, Asian Cinemas hasn't made any fresh statement.
