Mohanlal is said to be the first Southern Indian actor to have two films grossing over Rs 100 crore worldwide in a span of 30 days. This feat was achieved with his films L2: Empuraan, released on March 27, which crossed Rs 100 crore in just 2 days, and Thudarum, released on April 25, which also entered the Rs 100 crore club within days of its release.
Social media posts and reports confirm this milestone, noting that no other South Indian actor had accomplished this before. L2: Empuraan, while being a disaster in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil, was a blockbuster in Malayalam. Thudarum has been going strong at the Mollywood box office.
However, Ravi Teja could be the first one to hold the aforementioned box-office record if you consider Waltair Veerayya to be his movie; he was one of the lead actors. It was primarily a Chiranjeevi star vehicle. Dhamaka was released on 22 December 2022. Waltair Veerayya was released on 13 January 2023. The former, co-starring Sreeleela, grossed Rs 110 crore at the box office.
