What is the success rate in Hollywood? Find out...

Success rate in different Indian film industries is as low as 10%. Out of a thousand films made in India in a year, hardly hundred of them break-even. High-profit films are rare to come by. What is the situation like in Hollywood?

Estimates suggest about 20-30% of Hollywood films turn a profit theatrically. This proportion doesn't include movies that break even. Many films there rely on streaming and home entertainment revenue. Some sources suggest that the majority of films break even or make a modest profit, rather than a significant loss. The long-standing idea that 80% of movies lose money is often disputed.

High-budget films (made on a budget of more than $100 million) from major studios (read Disney, Warner Bros., Universal, etc.) have a higher chance of breaking even due to global distribution networks. This corresponds to the case in India.

In Hollywood, mid-budget films ($20-80 million) often struggle.

Not even 2% of Indians watch movies in theatres. In the US, the proportion is higher. About 8% of American adults frequently attend theaters, with 41% rarely going.
