SSMB29: Kumbha poster is not up to Rajamouli's level, say netizens

The first look of Prithviraj Sukumaran as the antagonist Kumbha in SS Rajamouli's upcoming film GlobeTrotter (tentatively SSMB29) was unveiled today. Netizens have criticized the design for feeling derivative, low-effort, and mismatched with Rajamouli's usual grandeur.

Here are some of the negative reactions:

1. "If Bollywood had dropped a poster like this, people would be trolling it non-stop. But since it’s from the South, everyone’s suddenly calling it cinematic brilliance."

2. "Don't know why directors cast Prithviraj as villain... He doesn't look like a villain at all... the off-screen image makes it difficult."

3. "Please please even if there are delays it's fine, just please put in extra effort in terms of design."

4. "Even India’s biggest director failed to match Varadha Raja Mannar’s first look (Prithviraj's character from Prashanth Neel's Salaar)."

There are many positive reactions as well. "There seems to be effort in it all. Rajamouli's villains mainly work because of the malevolent persona they have. From the villains of Vikramarkudu and Simhadri to those of Baahubali and Eega, they were extraordinarily bad. Same will be the case in SSMB29. Be patient," a movie buff wrote.
