Satish Shah, who was an extremely popular and highly respected comedian and character actor in Bollywood and television, is no more. He was 74.
Shah appeared in over 250 feature films, with some of his most memorable comedic roles in major box office successes. Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983), Main Hoon Na (2004), Kal Ho Naa Ho (2003), Om Shanti Om (2007) are some of them. Other hits like Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge, Hum Aapke Hain Koun..!, and Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa.
Fans and stalwarts are paying rich tributes to his impeccable comic timing and versatility. "How do you process death of your childhood favourites, the characters which made you feel wow?" a fan wrote. "Goodbyes are for ordinary people not for comedy giants like Satish Shah. Thank you for all the laughs, the good clean fun comedy we watched with our parents, the family values the simple but priceless humour of everyday life. You shall be sorely missed," another fan added.
