In the eagerly anticipated prequel, Kantara: Chapter 1, filmmaker and star Rishab Shetty will reportedly be delving into the very beginnings of a legend. Through the pan-Indian movie, he seeks to transport the viewers to the forests of Banavasi in 300 AD.
Rishab Shetty has undergone a physical makeover for his role. "He embodies a formidable Naga Sadhu, a monastic warrior whose path is inextricably linked with the supernatural," the makers have hinted. His character in the Hombale Films production will be a "vital connection between the earthly realm and the celestial".
Tribal conflicts will be at the centre of Kantara: Chapter 1's story. How well the tumultuous events associated with these conflicts, and how engagingly the origins of the Daiva tradition are depicted, will hold the key to the movie's success.
Kantara: Chapter 1 has reportedly minted profits even before its release. With big names buying the movie in the form of distribution rights, and an OTT giant shelling out a humongous amount of money, Hombale Films is in a sweet spot. The film will head to theatres on October 2nd.
