Mirai and Kishkindhapuri were released in theatres last Friday (September 12th). Their box office clash was preceded by Mirai amassing undivided audience attention. Surprisingly, Kishkindhapuri managed to hold its ground despite huge competition from Mirai and Little Hearts.
After a week, where do the two films stand? Mirai grossed Rs 112 Cr in its first week at the box office. "Super Yodha slaying in style at the box office. 112.10 Cr+ Gross Worldwide in the First Week," People Media Factory stated. This was possible because of the film's decent performance in Hindi. The Teja Sajja movie is a giant.
Kishkindhapuri, on the other hand, minted Rs 22 Cr. "The THRILLING BLOCKBUSTER #Kishkindhapuri collects a gross of 22 CRORES+ in its first week. Enters into its second week with superb WOM all over. A big second weekend loading," Shine Screens today stated. (The stated figures are as per the producers of the two movies).
Had Kishkindhapuri been a solo release, it might have grossed Rs 35 Cr or even more. Still, twenty two crores is a solid number by today's standards. The horror mystery-thriller, for all its flaws, is a net positive for Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas, director Koushik Pegallapati, and Anupama Parameswaran.
