'Trance of Omi' from OG is apparently a copied tune. The song, dedicated to Emraan Hashmi's character, is a major musical highlight of the movie. After a video clip of the original version (the country of origin couldn't be ascertained as yet) surfaced online, Netizens have expressed shock.
"It's an achievement of sorts that nobody knew about this until now. Usually, Thaman's songs are known to be copied or heavily sampled on Day 1," a movie buff wrote. Another netizen commented, "Most of the best tunes of Anirudh Ravichander and Thaman are like this. They lack originality. It is always good not to give them the benefit of doubt."
Thaman has yet to comment on the allegations. The popularity of OG owes itself to a large extent to Thaman's songs and score. Although many have felt that the BGM is too loud in the second half, the stylization has mostly been embraced by the audience.
Thaman is currently working on a host of movies, including The Raja Saab and Telusu Kada.
