Realization: Chiranjeevi embraces his age in Kaaka

Chiranjeevi's Kaaka, as per writer Kona Venkat, will have no heroine track and no rom-com portions. The Megastar seems to be playing his age at last.

The shift is notable. For years, he faced criticism for romancing much younger heroines. Audiences and critics questioned the age gap on screen. Songs and love scenes often felt forced. Bholaa Shankar was a prime example. The romantic track with Tamannaah Bhatia and a scene with Sreemukhi drew heavy flak. It slowed the narrative and added little. Many felt the film would have been less unbearable without it. The film flopped, and the criticism grew louder.

Chiranjeevi's strength today lies in mass appeal and screen presence. He does not need a glamorous pairing to draw crowds. Audiences are also more accepting of senior stars in mature roles.

Kaaka could mark a course correction. A story-driven role suits his stature. The Bobby Kolli directorial will be a Sankranthi 2027 release.
