'1997', starring Dr. Mohan, Naveen Chandra and Srikanth Iyengar, will be released in theatres on November 26. Ahead of its release, actor-director Dr. Mohan has talks about the movie.

'1997' is a suspense thriller based on contemporary issues. The film brings out the trauma that a rape victim undergoes. Her mother's emotions are an important element of the story. The film explores the causes and consequences of sexual assaults on women. There is also the angle of caste. Lower caste people are not touched but their women are sought by lecherous men.

The story is based on an incident that my grandfather narrated to me when I was in his village in my school days. It was in the year 1997 that I listened to the story. It has stayed with me since then.

The CBFC board members have appreciated our effort. They said that the film is really good, adding that we have raised a relevant issue. The female members said that they were left in tears.

I have played the role of an IPS officer who goes to a village soon after taking an appointment. It's a character with multiple shades.

'1997' is a well-meaning commercial movie. The issues it raises have been given a suitable flavor.

Coming to Koti garu's music, I have known him for many years. His RR is going to be a key highlight of the movie. He came on board only after he watched the first copy. He was impressed with the output.

You will see Naveen Chandra as my superior. He has done an amazing job. Srikanth Iyengar has been sought-after everywhere. His role is going to be a highlight.

I have derived immense satisfaction by doing this movie both as a director and an actor. I give my 100% every time, even as a businessman.
