DY Chowdary of Mana Studios has bankrolled 'Love You Ram' in association with K Dasaradh. Starring Rohit Behal and Aparna Janardhanan as the lead pair, the film is slated to be released in theatres on June 30.
Starring also Banerjee, Pradeep, and Kadambari Kiran, the film's screenplay is written by Kishore Gopu and Shiva Mokka. In this interview, Chowdary says that the film has received applause from the likes of 'Ustaad Bhagat Singh' maker Harish Shankar. Dasaradh's brother K Vedaa has composed three superb songs, the producer adds.
'Love You Ram' is about a young woman for whom life is all about love. On the other hand, the man she loves is manipulative. Love is full of expectations. Any individual wants to project himself or herself as the best in a romantic relationship. The true colours of the individual come to the fore later. That's what happens in 'Love You Ram', too.
I and K Dasaradh have known each other for decades. He has been in the film industry, while I have mostly been in the TV industry. In the past few years, we have worked on web series at the scripting level. The collaboration made us realize that neat, family-friendly web series are rare to come by. We wanted to make a neat film first. That's why we made 'Love You Ram'. Dasaradh himself was supposed to wield the megaphone. But since he is doing a couple of big projects, he assigned the job to some other guy.
I personally like family dramas and love stories. That's where I and Dasaradh, who made 'Santosham' with Nagarjuna in 2003, get along well. 'Love You Ram' is not a typical love story with familiar situations. The songs feel good. There is also a Hindi and an English song in our movie. The songs have become extremely popular on social media and on YouTube. The songs feel refreshing.
A lot of people are migrating to other countries in search of better opportunities these days. NRIs face their set of problems and have to constantly be on their toes. If they don't work for a month, they will run out of savings. The male lead in 'Love You Ram' is a money-minded NRI whose self-centered thinking undergoes transformation because of the heroine. He is beauty-conscious and his character comes with negative shades. A story of this sort had to be told through new actors.
The heroine is from Kerala. We were looking for someone who must look homely and good in traditional clothing. 'Keep loving more' is her motto in the movie. She is a dedicated actress, much like our hero. They look mesmerizing together in several frames.
The project started out as a small one in the beginning. With time, it became bigger. Some scenes had to be shot in a palatial bungalow because the element of a Zamindar family is involved. The foreign scenes were shot in Norway, a highly expensive place, because we couldn't secure US visas.
We have screened the movie to the likes of Harish Shankar garu, who really liked the content. He is promoting our movie. Recently, we screened the movie in the US. In Hyderabad, four private screenings have already been held. The response has been encouraging everywhere.
Mythri Movie Makers' distribution arm is going to release 'Love You Ram' on 100 screens.
I and Dasaradh are doing three web series, one each for ZEE5, ETV Win and SonyLIV. We might also collaborate for an Aha Video show. Dasaradh will be directing a big-budget movie. I am associated with it.
