C Aswini Dutt backs Suriya and Nani over OTT release of 'ANHR' and 'V'

Recently, Sudha Kongara-directed 'Aakaasam Nee Haddhu Raa' found its way into Amazon Prime. It will stream from October 30. Amid reactions that the movie should have waited for theatres to be reopened, senior producer C Aswini Dutt has supported Suriya's decision.

Dutt, who is currently producing the Prabhas-Nag Ashwin movie, said, "There is no guarantee that theatres will be reopened before January 2021. And, even after cinema halls start operating, there will be a cloud of uncertainty. In this scenario, it is quite wrong to expect the movies to wait and ask the audience to watch their favourite movies only on the big screen."

The Vyjayanthi Movies supremo said that he totally appreciates the makers of Suriya's action drama and Nani's 'V' (September 5th release) for the same reason. "I appreciate Nani for letting 'V' choose OTT even though it's a milestone movie for him (it's Nani's 25th outing). Suriya and Nani have definitely shown the way," Dutt added.

"Since Suriya is a big star to watch whose movies the audience show enthusiasm, it would have been wrong to release his movie in theatres in the time of COVID-19," Dutt opined.
