Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn's 'Maidaan', which tells the story of a real-life football coach, will head to theatres on June 3 next year. Directed by Amit Ravindernath Sharma, 'Maidaan' is only the latest Bollywood film to lock its release date. Also featuring 'Narappa' actress Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh, the film has been made on a prestigious scale.

"Maidaan, A story that will resonate with every Indian, a film that I feel very strongly about. Mark the date on your calendar. Releasing worldwide on 3rd June, 2022 (sic)," wrote Ajay Devgn on Twitter.

"Due to the pandemic, the theatres have been shut down. 'Maidaan' has announced its release date twice previously. But the movie had to be postponed. June 3, 2022, is when our movie is going to arrive in theatres," the makers today said.

The makers added that there have been movies based on cricket, kabaddi, racing, running races and others, but 'Maidaan' is uniquely based on football. "While watching the movie, you will be transported to the football stadium in the story," they added.
