Asian Tarakarama is a cinema hall with historic significance: Balakrishna

The famous Tarakarama theatre in Hyderabad's Kachiguda was started by NT Rama Rao in 1978. Due to some reasons, it fell into disuse and was shut down for many years. Although it was reopened later, its pristine glory couldn't be regained.

The news is that the landmark theatre has been revived now in collaboration with Asian Cinemas. Asian Tarakarama is its new name. The upscale theatre has been modified to look luxurious and contemporary.

The theatre boasts luxury features at affordable ticket prices, the owners today said. Balakrishna, who participated in the theatre's inaugural on Wednesday, added that it is important to make ticket rates accessible to the audience. The seats are like mini-recliners with holders to place food and drinks. The rates of snacks are not high either.

Speaking on the occasion, the 'Akhanda' and 'Veera Simha Reddy' star recalled his father's legacy, observing that his father's initiatives were visionary always. He named some of his blockbusters that were screened at Tarakarama in the 1980s. Balayya also thanked Asian Cinemas' Suniel Narang and Bharat Narang.

Suniel Narang said that his father Narayan Das Narang had healthy equations with NTR. "We have put up 600 seats and each of them is a recliner," Narang added.
