Chaluve Gowda, the co-founder of Hombale Films, has revealed that Yash was not the first choice to play the lead role in the action thriller. This is shocking for sure. A big non-Kannada actor was approached for the lead role. He rejected it on the grounds that Kannada films have not got much market outside Karnataka.
Had Yash not gotten to do KGF, he would have remained a non-entity outside Sandalwood. On the other hand, Prashanth Neel would have continued to rise, because he would have most likely scored a hit with any other hero. The BO potential of KGF: Chapter 1 was limited by Yash's lack of popularity. Had Prabhas or Allu Arjun acted in it, its reach would have been many times bigger.
