Netizens slam AR Murugadoss for making silly statement

The other day, director AR Murugadoss commented that Tamil filmmakers not only entertain but also educate the audience. As per him, Kollywood films are socially conscious, unlike Telugu and Hindi movies.

Murugadoss has invited a backlash through his comment. Many feel that Tamil films have villainized wealth creators and North Indian characters in the name of social cinema. Also, they never raise their voice against political corruption by regional Tamil parties.

Below are some of the reactions by netizens:

No one is asking to educate. You 'educate' because you lack the talent to write anything entertaining.

Life lesson one can learn from Coolie:
Even at an age of more than 50, you can become a scientist.

Tamil Cinema industry produced films portraying freedom struggle, Nationalism, Spiritualism until directors became educators.

No one goes to theatres to get preached. Tamil movies are often insufferable because of this.

One has to be ultra dumb to think other languages won't have history, literature, writers etc to throw light to their people. People have their own minds to think, they don't need a film director to be a guide or educator. Get down from high horse.
