Speaking at the teaser launch event of Chai Wala, the makers described their movie as emotional and meant for the family audience. Actor Shiva Kandukuri and Rajeev Kanakala play a son and father in this movie.
Speaking on the occasion, Shiva said that it has been a beautiful journey doing Chai Wala. Director Pramod Harsha, he described, was a "close friend". He assured the audience that the film will leave feelings of warmth toward one's father. He described heorine Teju Ashwini as versatile. "Chai Wala will surely connect with the audience on a deeper level," the actor, who is the son of Pelli Choopulu producer Raj Kandukuri, said.
Rajeev Kanakala praised the director for his clarity and conviction, and the producer for not compromising on anything. He said he was moved instantly when he heard the script for Chai Wala, describing the film as both entertaining and emotional. He also commended Shiva as a dedicated actor who "gives his everything in every scene". The film has the budding comedy artist Rajkumar Kasireddy as the hero's friend.
Producer Raj Kandukuri said that films whose emotional content stays with the audience are long-lasting. Describing Kanakala as a fantastic performer, he added that only he could have played the part. "Pramod Harsha is a director to watch out for, and Shiva will earn a lot of appreciation with this film. I truly believe Chai Wala will touch everyone’s hearts," Raj further said.
Director Pramod Harsha explained that he wrote Chai Wala to be a story people could relate to, as it was inspired by everyday life. He chose Shiva for the lead role because he believed he had the right mix of sensitivity and charm.
Producer Venkat R. Paapudippu stated that making a film is one of the toughest things to do, even more so than building a house or arranging a marriage. He described Chai Wala as a sensible love story that would touch people's hearts and mentioned that some scenes were so moving they brought him to tears.
Teju Ashwini, the lead actress, said she was grateful that her first Telugu film was Chai Wala. She noted that it was a wonderful experience working with Rajeev Kanakala and described her co-actor Shiva as "amazing." She also expressed her belief that the film would win everyone's hearts.
