At any time from now, India and Pakistan could go for a full-blown war. An air of uncertainty hangs around businesses. The first movie to cancel its theatrical release amid the ongoing tensions between the two countries is Bhool Chuk Maaf, a Bollywood movie starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. The movie won't be hitting theatres this Friday. Instead, it will directly be made available on OTT.
"In light of recent events and the heightened security drills across the nation, we at Maddock Films and Amazon MGM Studios have decided to bring our family entertainer, Bhool Chuk Maaf, directly to your homes on May 16, only on Prime Video, worldwide. While we were eagerly looking forward to celebrating this film with you in theaters, the spirit of the nation comes first," the makers said today.
The development raises a question: Should a war break out, will many more movies follow the same path?
